March 3rd 2010 Liverpool SEO Seminar – Affiliates and Adsense

Filed under: SEO, news and events, seo affiliates scheme — admin @ 4:46 pm

The next Liverpool SEO Seminar takes place at our usual Ship and Mitre, Dale Street, Liverpool venue on Wednesday March 3rd at 6pm. As ever our website SEO and networking event is completely free.

The presentation title is: Making money from your website using Affiliate schemes and Google Adsense.

We will also describe some example programs as run by www.littledetails.co.uk in the past and our current ideas.

The principal way of making money from your website without selling your own products and services is via Affiliate Schemes. Learn what an affiliate scheme is, how to apply to be an affiliate and begin making money, and how to maximise your revenue.

In some respects Google Adsense is even easier to implement than affiliate schemes. Google pay for clicks on advertisements you host on your website. Simply by providing useful content to your users Google will pay you for the privilege!

One of our long term website and business partners, and regular Liverpool SEO Seminar attendees, Jan Mooney has stepped forward to sponsor our March 3rd 2010 event. Jan is providing a free complimentary buffet courtesy of Occasions Catering Liverpool to go with the usual free glass of wine courtesy of our long term sponsor Michael Dorrington of Liverpool Commercial Mortgages!

February 2010 SEO Newsletter Social Networking

Welcome to the February 2010 littledetals.co.uk newsletter. This month’s news letter includes a review of last month’s Liverpool SEO Seminar all about social networking, a preview of our next Liverpool SEO Seminar which takes place at our usual venue, The Ship and Mitre, Dale Street, Liverpool on Wednesday March 3rd at 6pm.

Last months seminar went very smoothly, with 15 guests enjoying a free glass of wine as served by our resident bar boy, Antony, aka @DopeyAntony on twitter.

The presentation followed on from the previous one in November of last year on Keywords and Links the Basics of SEO, by discussing social networking. As more and more people use websites such as Facebook and Twitter as their home pages, rather than a more traditional home page such as Google or Yahoo, then only by giving your company and website a social networking presence can you hope to keep up with current user trends.

One of the biggest advantages of social networking as a promotional tool, is the way news spreads via word of mouth. A personal recommendation is by far the best form of advertising, and costs nothing more than doing the job correctly. The fact that your products and services can be actively promoted by the socially networking and interacting users is an opportunity that cannot be ignored.

Of course not all products and services can be promoted in this way, but for the right product the rewards can be considerable.

But what do you do once your website has been optimised, promoted, and you have a steady stream of personally recommended users? If the answer is anything apart from, make some money, then the next part is not for you!

There are a number of different ways to make money directly from your website, and two of the most common are via hosting pay per click advertisements and affiliate programs. Both of which require the hosting of snippets of advertising code on your website, which in turn direct users to other websites.

These two related but differing aspects will be discussed at the March 3rd Liverpool SEO Seminar.

One of the most common forms of Pay Per Click hosting accounts is Google Ad Sense. After registering with an account you can sign up to host advertisements from the Google network. You can choose from a number of different advertising styles and customise the look of the advertisement blocks. The code is then pasted in to your HTML (website code). The biggest advantage with Google Ad Sense is the fact the system reads the content of your web page, and displays advertisements related to your content. The ads are therefore highly targeted at your users. Each time an advert is clicked on by your user, subject to a couple of provisos, then you as the website hosting owner, get paid by Google for the click. Payouts can be anything from 1p, up to pounds in some cases.

Affiliate schemes run in a similar way to the Google Ad Sense, but involve a bit more work. You must sign up and register with the affiliate host, such as Zanox or Commission Junction, and then choose which affiliate programs to sign up for. Every single subject is covered. Adverts range from simple links to large banners and in some cases even full online booking systems. Generally these are sales based payouts. You earn a commission only on completed sales, but the payouts can be very big. One affiliate scheme we participate in pays £100 for each completed sale.

More of this at our next Liverpool SEO Seminar on March 3rd 2010. Register now.

blog your keywords for business

Filed under: SEO, blogs — admin @ 1:57 am

To blog or not to blog, is an easy question to answer.

Whether ’tis nobler to blog we can’t say, but you should definitely blog for business at all times. A blog on your website will get your SEO keywords into your website and indexed by search engines faster and better than most other types of web page. Wordpress blogs such as the blog you are reading right now are especially good for spreading your keywords throughout Google et al. Wordpress was created by webmasters for webmasters, with search engine ranking and placement very much in mind.

Whilst your words will probably not have the same impact as Shakespeare’s, you are sure to have a wider audience for them if your words are committed to the blogosphere.

Socialise or Optimise to promote your business online

Filed under: SEO, facebook, social bookmarking, social networking, twitter — admin @ 4:11 pm

The nature of how the Internet and World Wide Web is used is constantly changing, and a successful strategy to get your website a high position in keyword searches on Google may no longer guarantee the results you were looking for. Only by following the current trends of social networking can you fully maximise the returns for your online investments.

Even large national and multinational companies now focuss advertising efforts towards the new social networking websites, the so called web 2.0 sites. In recent months TV advertisements on prime time UK television are carrying Facebook fan page addresses rather than the companies actual website URL.

By realising the way peoples online habits are changing, you can be best poised to take advantage of such online social networking trends.

The good news is, for a relatively small but well focussed effort, brand awareness and ultimately sales can be driven by utilising the social networking sites such as Facebook, Twitter and Linkedin. The type of customers you wish to attract will determine where in the social networking environment your efforts should be focussed. A simple enquiry into the demographics on each Social Networking site’s user base will reap rewards and save wasted efforts.

For example a product aimed at teens would attract any interest on Twitter or Linkedin, but could generate huge interest on Facebook, with its younger user base.

Filed under: SEO, news and events, social bookmarking, twitter — admin @ 3:32 pm

thanks to everyone who attended last nights seo seminar about social networking at the ship and mitre in dale street liverpool. the event went very well, and i will be adding a blog about this to the littledetails.co.uk site for you all to leave your feedback on the event…. and push me along to being the web 2.0 site for seo liverpool.

lots of questions were asked and a lot of personal networking took place, and everyone who attended took something very positive from the event.

a quick mention of our sponsors for the event, mike: dorringtons commercial finance and insurance and jan: occasions catering liverpool.

sorry to those waiting for the #tweetinar, but a technical issue prevented its broadcast. namely, the powerpoint presentation crashed and had to be rewritten from scratch in the couple of hours before the presentation started. there was simply not enough time to write the #tweetinar on the day.

the lack of time also stopped us printing the event feedback and networking forms, so please everyone remember to email me and post your feedback on our blog.

the next event has already been booked in for wednesday march 3rd at 6pm at the same venue, upstairs at the ship and mitre dale street liverpool.

dont forget to join our liverpool seo facebook group and follow us on twitter.com/littledetails

thanks. simon. xx
