Merseyside Business Directory Launched

Filed under: news and events — Tags: — admin @ 7:11 pm

littledetails.co.uk Liverpool SEO Web Designs has launched a free business directory for any and all companies on Merseyside. Businesses are listed free under various categories with one listing per company. The directory is designed to aid any Liverpool and Merseyside based company’s SEO strategy by allowing the business owner themselves to choose the anchor text and description of their link. All directory submissions are reviewed by genuine certified humans. The listing criteria can be found on the ‘add url to businesses directory’ page.

Although no reciprocal link is required, this will aid the business themselves to provide one. Referring URLs will be listed higher than sites without a link back to littledetails.co.uk.

According to littledetails.co.uk CEO Simon Robinson, “The more we can do to encourage web owners to start a linking strategy, the sooner they will see their web sites moving up the search engines. The way our site is constructed means that all links we point outwards are quickly picked up by Google and add to their page rank. A few links pointing back to us with the anchor text we need will also give our site a well earned boost.”

keyword link to your home page

Filed under: SEO, hypertext links, keywords — Tags: — admin @ 1:32 pm

When linking back to your home page, make the link work that little bit harder by including the main keywords you wish to target in the anchor text of that link, instead of just the words ‘home page’ or something similar. Anchor text is one of the main ways to channel page rank at a page. Over time, as your second and third tier pages are indexed and gain their own page rank, the power they pass back to the home page will be multiplied if you use the keywords in that home page link.

If you must still use something like ‘home page’ as the link, consider adding a no-follow attribute behind this, and putting an additional home page link contain the main keywords in a different position in the page, without the no-follow attribute.

The most important SEO idea

Filed under: SEO — Tags: — admin @ 3:13 pm

The most important aspect of SEO is actually the anchor text (the words the are shown as underlined clickable text on the page) in the links that point at your site. Google has always rated inbound links, and the text contained within those links, and therefore off-page factors, as a more important ranking device than the pages themselves. Each of your inbound links provides a vote for your site, the more votes, the better your ranking. But importantly each vote is only a vote for those keywords written in to the anchor text. Get the anchor text in your inbound links correct, and you will soon see the SEO rewards.

Any other type of link, such as a banner or button pointing at your website does not have any test associated with it, and is therefore of no use to the search engine optimisation of your website. Simply put, don’t bother using banner links.

The best evidence for the importance of anchor text on the internet today? Try searching for the words ‘click here’, and then see if you can find these words anywhere on the Adobe pages found at the top of the search. How can this be? Thousands of web pages across the globe encourage their users to download Adobe reader with a link that says, yes you guessed it, ‘click here’.

Location as an SEO keyword

Filed under: SEO — Tags: — admin @ 3:33 pm

If your business is focused on a particular geographical area you must ensure the area is part of your SEO keyword strategy, and appears in the anchor text of inbound links. For example, if you are a Liverpool based web designer, a link to your home page should be along the lines of Liverpool SEO Web Designer. We practice what we preach obviously. This will allow you to appear in general searches for your area, and gives you a much better chance of appearing inside the increasingly important local search results.
